My name is Tania Wojciechowski and I'm not entirely sure my addiction to linen can be cured.

Philosophy:
Warm. Natural. Modern. Playful. I believe that everyone should have access to good design everyday. Why can't an ordinary tea towel be beautiful as well? I am filling my life with carefully selected items that are functional, beautiful, and high-quality, with a focus on handmade items. Manusmade will help you do the same. How? Through interviews with artisans, holiday shop guides, help with creating a home that is mostly handcrafted, articles that invoke the various textures of life, and products that embody the manusmade philosophy. All this while seriously trying not to take myself, or life, too seriously.

 Manusmade:
"Manus" is the latin term for "hand", and here at manusmade all things handmade are celebrated. The latin infusion evokes a sense of history and tradition: people have been making things by hand for thousands of years. To me, it also represents the power of the hand - the ability to create and make. All manusmade products are modern goods for you and your home and are handmade of natural materials. I am a maker, and I love supporting other makers. I know you do, too.

A little more about me:
I learned to sew at a young age from my mother. Always curious and inquisitive, I made things without patterns, tried new ways of doing things, put together interesting fabrics. This made my mother very nervous (patterns are to be followed, doncha know!!), but it quickly helped me learn how to work with fabric. When I'm being too perfectionist about something, I think back to that time, and remember to just play. What do I play with? Textures of all sorts - the touch of nubby linen, the warm scratchiness of wool felt, the smell of baking bread and freshly picked home-grown tomatoes. Touch and texture, for me, evoke so many emotions and memories.

I would describe the manusmade collection, a reflection of Tania's personal style, as clean and simple - simple in the way that it is a breath of fresh air, and a reminder that not everything in life needs to be busy, cluttered and in yo' face. A quiet simple beauty. It catches your attention by quietly whispering "here I am." It's also very connected to the earth. Mother Nature uses linen towel cloths, of that I am certain.
