Play

Watching The Flaming Lips, summer 2010

I've currently got Play on the mind. Not the Moby cd, although, that would probably make a good soundtrack to my life right now! Just the verb. The action. The emotion. I'm trying to take some time to just enjoy making things. I'm making things for the store (I'm very excited to show you some new things!) but I'm also making stuff for me, doing a bit of second-hand shopping (I love Salvation Army Thrift stores - btw they are having a 50% off sale on Friday, April 15), seeing a comedy show, starting to stretch and unwind in our back garden, and taking a hooping class! I even got my cutest little 1978 Fiat spider (convertible) out of winter storage on the weekend, and drove around with the top down for a bit.

I'm also doing a lot of business reading right now, which I'll share with you over the next little while. My main focus right now is figuring out what services I want to offer through manusmade - what shape the tutorials will take, what a potential class (or e-class) would look like, and what ways I can serve my favourite people (hint: it's you!) as well as collaborate and play with you. I feel a bit like I'm shifting into second gear - often the hardest to get into for some reason (well, it is on our car) - it takes a bit of a push out of first gear, but once you get beyond it, into third and fourth, it's easy, it glides, it accelerates effortlessly. Oh god, did I really just use a car analogy? My husband will be so proud.

I hope you too are jumping into Spring and coming out of hibernation. Play is so good for the soul! Are you playing these days? How?
