Last summer I was at a music festival here in Ottawa -
Bluesfest. It was the first time my husband and I bought a
week-long pass, and it was amazing. Super hot days, refreshing
lemonade, local food and beer, artisans, and music, so much music.
Everyday, we'd drive my little convertible 1978 Fiat down to
festival - warm wind in our hair, park a few blocks away, and
walk into the festival, drawn in by the distant
sounds. We'd bring a blanket and some money and stay late into
the evening. Depending on the day and which bands were playing,
sometimes it was busier than other nights. The
night I took this photo was a pretty busy night. I
remember being jostled around, and I was starting to feel like I
needed to get out of the crowd and go and sit and have a drink
somewhere else. I walked a little ways up the hill, looked up,
and saw this. The sun was just setting and the clouds were
reflecting all the colours the sun was bouncing off the river. It
took my breath away. It wasn't one of those fiery sunsets that can
make your jaw drop. It was just overwhelmingly calm and pure and
exactly the feeling I was looking for as I tried to escape the
crowd.
As I looked at this picture again today, I saw all the
individual colours that I remembered from that night. I'm
definitely inspired now to combine these into something, knowing
they'll remind me of this sky. Have you been inspired by colours
recently? What are your favourite combinations?
**What's a moment without a
name, you ask? It's moment where your heart sings, your senses
are ignited, you can see, feel, hear, things that are sacred to
you. They come from any of those textural moments in a life, be it
surrounded by wooly coziness in front of a fire or the heat of the
sun on your face. Join me as I celebrate these moments and textures
in our lives, they don't last long.**
