If I knew how to make and post a video, I would make one that
has me running downstairs to the drumset, doing a drumroll, and
jumping up and down for joy about my brand spanking new Etsy
shop. I am so happy with the results I can't stand it. It's
definitely been a long road to get here. In the end, it was all
about getting out of my crazy head, and just doing
the things I had thought about for years.
Thinking about what you want, creating goals, designing
products, and wishing you had something are all well and good. You
need those to get you somewhere, to get the spark ignited. Then you
need to simply start. That's it. That's the big secret to getting
what you want. Start with one item on that big list - any item -
and then finish it. In fact, it doesn't have to be the most
important thing. It's even better if it's something that is way
more fun than some other item on the list, that way you get excited
about doing something (anything!), crossing it off the list, and
getting momentum.
Slowly and surely, that's how the shop came together. I finally
made that to-do list (it took up a couple of pages!). I started
doing little things on the list that gave me momentum, and pretty
soon, the item that said: "Launch etsy store, March 17, 2011" was
crossed off! There is still a lot left to do on the list, but it
can come later. Today, I'm celebrating this, and I'm happy.
