Oh my goodness, do I ever love to read. I'm one of those people
who always have about 7 books on the go all at once, and will read
all of them at various times. Surprisingly, I get through them all!
I'll read when I'm in bed about to go to sleep, I'll read at the
dinner table, I'll read waiting in line. In the picture, I'm
actually sitting at the base of the Arc de Triomph in Paris and
I've got my nose in a book. Well, to be honest, it's a guidebook,
and I was probably looking for a place to get a glass of champagne,
but still...
When April from Blacksburg
Belle posted her announcement that she was starting a
membership site for creative entrepreneurs, I got excited. It's
going to be fantastic, I thought, full of advice, access to
experts, tons of support. Yay! Then, she announced that she was
looking teammembers, and that she would need people to read books
on entrepreneurialism and creativity, and then talk about their
experiences as they applied some of the advice to their own
businesses - well then, she was talking to me! I had to let her
know I was totally born for that position!
I have a little secret that only some of you know about. I'm
very geeky. Shhh, don't tell too many people. Not geeky in a
technology way, but geeky in a I Love Being In A Library sort of
way. Seriously, if I ever had to wait for my parents to pick me up
from school, I would be in the library waiting. During my year
abroad in France (just after highschool) while working as a nanny,
my favourite refuge was the beautiful old library where I would go
to write letters home. One of my favourite parts of museums and
galleries is the study areas. And, a true testament to my
library-geekiness: I set up my own. In my bedroom. Yup. I was
12. I didn't think the Dewey Decimal System was good enough
for me - I created my own entirely new inventory system. I created
a handwritten database of all the books, made labels
and sign-out cards, and let people know they could borrow the
books anytime! I did remind them, though, that there was a
2-week borrowing time, and that fines would be incurred should
they go beyond that period. Fun times.
So, combine all this with the fact that handing in book reports
was my favourite part of school, it makes me totally
ready for the position of Book Club Babe in the ARTrepreneur membership site!! I know that
April read through hundreds of applications for only three
positions. and so I was so honoured to be chosen by her at the
start of this endeavour. I am absolutely thrilled to be working
with the rest of the ARTrepreneur team - where we'll be focusing on
helping you turn your creative dreams into reality. Please go and
say hello to the rest of team:
