And I Like Long Walks On The Beach...

A friend of mine, Deanna, recently posted some things about her that helped us get to know her a little better. I thought it was a great idea! So now I'm going to subject you to the same thing.

So, many of you who have been following know a few things about me: I'm a little mental about linen, I wanna be a shop girl, and I created an entirely new library cataloguing system at one point in my life. But what are some things about me that you may not know from what I've told you so far? Am I young or old or wierd or nerdy? Let's find out:

1. I am a Canadian Born Abroad. Yes, I'm a broad hahaha..., but although I've lived in Canada for 85% of my life, I wasn't born here. I was born in the small town of Potsdam, NY, which is only about an hour from where I live now in Ottawa. My parents (mother: Canadian, father: English living in Canada most of his life) were both teachers, and at the time my father was teaching at the university there. Knowing that they'd eventually be moving back to Canada, they simply registered my brother and I as Canadians born abroad. I'm still trying to figure out how to become a citizen of the world with a Canadian, and American, and an EU passport!

2. I'm a bit of a clown. Well, since I took a course in it, I guess you can call me a certified clown. In the past few years, I've taken a few acting courses - the main reason was to get beyond my inhibitions, my shyness, my fears of failure - basically, I just needed to get out of my head and into my body. Once I started to feel comfortable in the classes, it was one of the teachers who suggested I take a clown class, since he could see there was a goofball hidden deep in there that popped out every once in a while. It was the Scariest Thing I've ever done - trying to get a whole room full of people to laugh, trying to channel that inner Harpo Marx without looking like you're trying? Yeah, some walls came down that weekend.

3. When no one is looking (ok, even sometimes when people are looking), I blast the music and dance like Molly Ringwald in the dance scene from The Breakfast Club. I am almost the same age as Molly, so I grew up basically learning to dance that same way. Sure, my dancing has changed over the years - I don't usually do the "Molly" dance to Lady Gaga or to Metric, but if something retro comes on the radio? Oh yeah, Molly's out! In all truthfulness, I often dance like Ally Sheedy too.

4. I love games! We had a little party at work a while ago and people brought video games that we played in the big boardroom. People are used to a fairly professional Tania at work, and so were a little surprised to see me rocking out to Guitar Hero on level Expert. In high heels to boot, oh yeah. I've always loved games - Tron and Pac Man and Centipede when I was a kid, Tetris and Raidon later at university, and Bejewelled and Guitar Hero even later. I love board games of all kinds too. I may be a little competitive but that has not really been officially proven yet. My friend swears that I once spilled a beer on a game board when she was about to win. My plea remains the same - it was an accident. Yup. That's my position.

5. I'm a procrastinator. Just wait till tomorrow and I'll tell you all about it....
